Spiritual Direction Formation Program

Four Year Formation course for those seeking to be a Spiritual Director

Our formation program combines both theoretical and practical studies within a contemplative learning environment. We use the contemplative/evocative model of spiritual direction, which focuses on:

  • Integrating a contemplative stance in students

  • Encouraging students to adopt a contemplative approach with their directees

This model is designed to evoke personal and spiritual growth in students, which then positively impacts their directees.

Course Structure and Delivery

Our four-year part-time study program includes:

  • 216 hours of contemplative learning - theory

  • 134 hours contemplative learning - practice in supervised triads

  • 30 hours of individual spiritual direction

The course is delivered through two intensive sessions each year, typically held in May and October. The May session is conducted online, while the October session may be a blend of online and face-to-face learning.
