Postgraduate Coursework
At postgraduate level, we offer a range of courses for those who have completed an undergraduate degree in a field other than theology.
The principal postgraduate coursework offerings through the University of Divinity are the Master of Divinity and Master of Theology.
The Master of Divinity is a three-year course of 18 units (full-time study is 6 units per year, but students may study part-time over nine years if they so choose).
The course includes 4 main streams of study:
· Biblical Studies
· Church History
· Systematic theology
· Mission and Ministry (Practical Theology)
Those accepted to train for ordination (Formation students) need to follow the guidance of God Calling and complete 18 core units in the Master of Divinity.
There are two shorter courses offered within the Master of Divinity:
Graduate Certificate in Divinity
Graduate Diploma in Pastoral and Spiritual Care: is a one year course fulltime (or up to 3 years part-time) designed to develop relevant, flexible strategies for effective pastoral mission and practice in partnership with all those who seek to serve the world through individual or systemic practice.
The Master of Theological Studies is a two-year course of 12 units (full-time study is 6 units per year, but students may study part-time over six years if they so choose).
The course includes 4 main streams of study:
· Biblical Studies
· Church History
· Systematic theology
· Mission and Ministry (Practical Theology)
This course is for students without a previous degree in theology looking to deepen their knowledge and develop skills in research.
All units are delivered by highly qualified lecturers dedicated to providing students with a comprehensive, rigorous, and vibrant theological education.
The Master of Theology is a two-year course of 10 units (full-time study is 6 units per year, but students may study part-time over five years if they so choose).
The course includes 4 main streams of study:
· Biblical Studies
· Church History
· Systematic theology
· Mission and Ministry (Practical Theology)
This course is for students with a previous degree in theology looking to deepen their knowledge and develop skills in research.
All units are delivered by highly qualified lecturers dedicated to providing students with a comprehensive, rigorous, and vibrant theological education.
