Postgraduate Coursework

Overview

At postgraduate level, we offer a range of courses for those who have completed an undergraduate degree in a field other than theology. Our programs are tailored to provide a comprehensive and enriching educational experience, allowing students to explore theological studies in depth. With flexible study options and a supportive learning environment, we aim to equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary for both personal growth and professional development in the field of theology.


Our Courses

Master of Divinity

The Master of Divinity is a three-year course of 18 units (full-time study is 6 units per year, but students may study part-time over nine years if they so choose).

The course includes 4 main streams of study:

  • Biblical Studies

  • Church History

  • Systematic theology

  • Mission and Ministry (Practical Theology)

Those accepted to train for ordination (Formation students) need to follow the guidance of God Calling and complete 18 core units in the Master of Divinity.


Master of Theological Studies

The Master of Theological Studies is a two-year course of 12 units (full-time study is 6 units per year, but students may study part-time over six years if they so choose).

The course includes 4 main streams of study:

  • Biblical Studies

  • Church History

  • Systematic theology

  • Mission and Ministry (Practical Theology)

This course is for students without a previous degree in theology looking to deepen their knowledge and develop skills in research.

All units are delivered by highly qualified lecturers dedicated to providing students with a comprehensive, rigorous, and vibrant theological education.


Master of Theology

The Master of Theology is a two-year course of 10 units (full-time study is 6 units per year, but students may study part-time over five years if they so choose).

The course includes 4 main streams of study:

  • Biblical Studies

  • Church History

  • Systematic theology

  • Mission and Ministry (Practical Theology)

This course is for students with a previous degree in theology looking to deepen their knowledge and develop skills in research.

All units are delivered by highly qualified lecturers dedicated to providing students with a comprehensive, rigorous, and vibrant theological education.


Graduate Studies

Graduate Certificate in Divinity is completed in up to 18 months (3 units of study) and allows students to explore areas of interest in divinity and its associated disciplines. It serves as an introduction to the broad field of study of theology or philosophy and disciplines which are associated with them.

Graduate Diploma in Divinity. is completed in up to 3 years (6 units of study) and allows students to explore multiple areas of interest in divinity and its associated disciplines or to engage with one or two areas in depth

Graduate Diploma in Pastoral and Spiritual Care: is a one year course fulltime (or up to 3 years part-time) designed to develop relevant, flexible strategies for effective pastoral mission and practice in partnership with all those who seek to serve the world through individual or systemic practice.


Ivor Church Bursary

Are you interested in conducting further research on a text, topic, or issue encountered in your theological studies?

The Ivor Church Bequest offers bursaries that cover half the student fees for a Graduate Certificate in Research Methodologies. This financial assistance can help you delve deeper into your areas of interest without the full financial burden.
