Why study at St Francis College
There are many reasons you should choose to study at St Francis College.
Academic excellence
Excellent teaching staff give students the skills to think critically and enrich their Christian understanding, enabling them to integrate theological knowledge with personal belief and practice.
The University of Divinity is the accrediting body for our university courses, which are taught and reviewed at a high-quality tertiary level.
We have one of the best theological libraries in Queensland, which all students can access.
Supportive community
As a small and close-knit community, our students benefit from the teaching staff’s encouraging and supportive supervision and personalised tutoring, and from the caring nature of the community.
Christian character
We aim to help students grow not only in knowledge, but also in love of God and others. Each day is book-ended with prayer in the Chapel, which is open to all. We hope that students will find themselves more deeply embedded in Christ, shaped as his disciples and sent out in his name ‘to live and work to God’s praise and glory’.
Beautiful and convenient location
The College and its chapel sit within a ‘hidden garden’ of nine acres in the middle of Milton; a setting which invites reflection and study. Our grounds and beautiful heritage buildings are based in a convenient, central Brisbane location, close to Milton train station and bus routes, with plenty of onsite parking.
What is theology?
Theology is the study of Christian belief. It helps people think more deeply about God, Jesus, the Bible and the Church.
Theological study often falls into four components: biblical studies; church history; doctrine (or what the church believes about God, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, humanity made in God’s image, the Church; etc.) and practical theology (church worship, evangelism, Christian leadership, etc.).
