The Anglican Theology and Practice Certificate

This Anglican Theology and Practice Certificate (ATPc) encourages learning in areas of spirituality and faith, the Christian story and more.

The ATP certificate is a structured learning experience that you can do on your own or with a group. A Participant chooses four short courses and checks in with a Conversation Partner to chat about their learning after completing each one. Add in one get-together with other Participants from around the diocese to celebrate your progress and then you’re done!

Who is it for?

Whoever wants to grow their faith a little, or a lot!

Parishes might decide to ask their liturgical assistants, children’s church leaders, parish councillors, or adult confirmees to do the ATP certificate. It’s up to you!

Are you

  • Asking ‘what’s next?’ in your faith journey?

  • Wondering how people grow into deeper faith?

  • Questioning your understanding of the Bible, Jesus, or God?

  • Looking for something to do when the rest of the share house is working on their model aeroplanes or scrolling?

  • Interested in meeting new people on a faith journey like yours?

Then the ATP certificate is for you!

Once you begin this ATP Certificate, you’ll

  • Become part of conversations that have been going on for thousands of years

  • Explore a comprehensive range of ideas about a modern Christian faith

  • Hear from contemporary Australian thinkers and practitioners

  • Reflect on how these ideas impact your life, your faith and your world

  • Take the chance and express these things to others.

What does it take?

  • Complete four SFC Short Courses, either on your own or with a group.

  • Each Short Courses contains around 6 x 30 minute video episodes. Add in time to reflect on questions and to record ideas in a journal, and you can expect to put in one hour per episode. This adds up to about 6 hours per Short Course. (This is a guide only, and the time you take is really up to you and what you want to put into it).

  • At the end of each of the four SFC Short Courses, develop a short creative response that demonstrates your learning. We call it a “Conversation Piece”.

  • At the end of each SFC Short Course, discuss these responses with a Conversation Partner.

  • It’s that easy!
